Has been stoen and Joolz is on the warpath for Steve - ummmm. I think the best thing to do is out in a microwave on a slow cook, and see what happens. Mpeg it as well. Maybe I’ll have a go. Neuked elephant sounds delicious, perhaps with some red wine.
Well the router died completely, and so had to get another one. doh! Now received a new Linksys and all is working aok - decided to stay with this brand although the original one failed as it has served me well, lasting over 5 years.
Am still getting some internet errors and not sure if the problem lies with Blueyonder, the PC or Actinic - I suspect that it’s Actinic.
Do seam to have some issues with the wireless router, FTP errors on upload. I have managed to eliminate cables and the cable modem which points to problems with the router, now trying to get thru to online support but is taking a long time to get thru. ah ha…. spoke too soon… Updates to follow….
…and this is the first post that I have done in ages!
Paid a visit to Funny Girls on Saturday, and fun was had by all - a fantastic show this time incluidng a revamped Riverdance and a new Spamalot skit. I am sure that GG would have creamed his pants on that one, due to the theme. Plans are afoot to go mid March and hopefully get a table too, we’ll have waitress service all night so that will save the feet.
Now I am on a quest!
Obviously my name is Karl Wilde, but I was adopted and my original name was Stephen Smale. I was adopted in Plymouth (UK), and born in Alexandra Hospital (I Think), 25th February 1965. So, I have now decided to attempt to locate my birth mother / parents.
I am just looking to find them and hopefully be able to say hello and, all being well, become friends. I hold no grudge or resentment al all, I was brought up with a good family although both parents have now passed. My mother kept telling me to trace them but at the time I saw no reason to do so, things have changed.
I have also lost contact with my family especially from my Dad’s side. I don’t have nay addresses or telephone numbers and would also love to get back in contact with them too.
Just email me if you have any information. Thanks.
Well, after a few days off over Easter, which is a first for me, back to work. It was great to see Nige over the weekend as well, play some games and have some meals out.
Friday was a bizarre games night and we had a player return who had only been with us once before, about 12 months ago. Good to see him. Chooi made us all play this really naff stock market board game - nine people playing! It took piggin ages, and me and Joolz had switched off after about ten minutes. It would probably be aok for 4 to6 players but not nine..
Me, Nige, Big Steve and Chris went for a game of Pitch and Put at Lytham on the Sunday, gawd that was hard work. We were all a bit cack, and the wind wasn’t half blowing - I got wind burn all over my face, tingled for ages. Good fun though.
Having spoken with technical support I now know how to backup mySQL databases using the command line via Putty ( remember that one?) - dead easy, but must also remember to back up the images with all Wordpress sites as well, just in case a restore is needed. I just wish RocketPost by Anconia would do that, and I also wish that they would respond to may emails; their support is really bad, it does say ‘we will reply to all questions within 1 working day’ but it’s been three now. I will blog as soon as I get a response.
Is there such a thing as a graphic version of Putty, I wonder… time to do a search.
To confirm: have been though all previous posts again and removed some of the crap, and also changed to date to where the post was made (very approximate, but good enough).
Have done my best to the blog dates and also removed some crap from my blog. I just wish there was an easy way to backup mysql, I’ll have to have a word with Rackspace later, perhaps there is an easy solution to this issue. Anconia Rocketpost is great for blogging and keeping a copy on your sytem, but if you change servers it won’t re-upload - says ’something went wrong’. I have emailed there support but it is taking ages for them to get back to us, which is unusual.
Well, on the business side today is the day that we have completed the move of all websites from Pipex to Rackspace. Pipex have failed us again - poor up time and a support line that is difficult to get thru to. On average we have had to wait over 40 minutes to get thru to technical at Pipex; since they took over Webfusion they have become really shit, shit, shit and shit. So, if you are thinking of having a website hosted don’t go to Pipex!
My personal blog i.e. this one, has had it’s content now uploaded, but the dates are incorrect. I will try and correct these on the future and also will start blogging again.
